07.24.2008 - Sometimes I think it'd be cool to have my own restaurant. Seana and I have talked about a place we'd call "Mingle" and i've had an idea for a place called "mBacon." But there are times when I think it's really a bad idea... especially when I read things like Laurent Gras' schedule: up at 6a, leaving the restaurant at midnight.

Matthew mentioned there's only so much a body can take, it's why you don't really see old chefs - or at least not old ones doing the stuff we like. it's a bit like pro athletes - i'm sure the old ones are still good, but definitely not top of their game anymore. Anyway, just some thoughts. I'm at Cook Street tonight... and i'm trying to figure out how long I should continue that.

07.23.2008 - I'm making the Portland trip restaurant list. It's pretty short, but here's what's currently in:

I'll probably end up hitting a burgerville at some point too - nothing gourmet or anything, but it's a bit like trying to hit In 'n Out when I'm in california.

"gun-related suicides have outnumbered firearm homicides and accidents for 20 of the last 25 years. In 2005, homicides accounted for 40 percent of gun deaths. Accidents accounted for 3 percent. The remaining 2 percent included legal killings, such as when police do the shooting"

"More than 90 percent of suicide attempts using guns are successful, while the success rate for jumping from high places was 34 percent. The success rate for drug overdose was 2 percent, the brief said, citing studies."
